problem about chinese input

my linux is english version
and i want to install chinese input,i once tryed to install miniChinput,but after i installed it,nothing happend,
my friend tells me that it is impossible to install chinese input in the version of english
is that true?
if i can install, which one is good and how,please tell me as exactly as possible,thx!

There is not a linux of what "language version", it's only the kernel,
the only precondition is that your glibc supports multibyte charsets,
issue a command of:
locale -a
if you can see something like zh_CN, then chinese locale is supported,
so you do a : export LC_ALL=zh_CN
before you start up you input server

use your install disks updata your system add the language part in it!!!!!!!
