昨天终于将显卡成功安装了,从nvidia那里下了NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run,退出X,直接sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run,然后改Xfree86config文件就行了。进X没问题,用虚拟控制台也没问题。在这以前,用NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run,结果在RH8.0里进不了X,在RH9.0里进不了虚拟控制台,一关机就黑屏@_@。
关于修改XF86Config文件,这和论坛里以前讲的安装rpm包驱动一样,将【nv】改为【nvidia】,检查一下在Mould section选项里有没有【Load “glx”】(我的有)如果没有,手工加上,然后注释掉 【Load ”dri“】 和【Load ”Glcore“】(我的没有Load "Glcore",所以只注释掉了Load "dri")。
btw:
1、这只是我个人的安装经历,因为在我一直没找到rpm包的驱动,用的都是*.run的驱动,在这之前都没成功(在nvidia的网站下了驱动,结果装了以后不是进不了X,就是进不了虚拟控制台,或者两个都进不了——还好这只碰到一次,不过这也够我受的了)。
2、如果用*.run的驱动安装不成功,可以退出X(init 3),执行nvidia-installer --uninstall,就可以回复到安装驱动以前的状态。(这非常有用,每次我的驱动安装失败,都是这样恢复的,不过有一次连虚拟控制台也进不了,这也失效了,于是格盘安装RH 9(在这以前是用的RH 8.0))
3、下面是nvidia关于驱动的说明文档,我摘录了一部分(原文很长,全部有131k,这是我用到的),供大家参考。(我也懒的翻译了,反正我全看的懂,所以就不翻译了。。 不准打人!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
After you have downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run,
begin installation by exiting X, cd'ing into the directory containing
the downloaded file, and run:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run
The .run file is a self-extracting archive. When the .run file is
executed, it extracts the contents of the archive, and runs the contained
`nvidia-installer` utility, which will walk you through installation of
the NVIDIA driver.
The .run file accepts many commandline options. Here are a few of the
more common options:
--info
Print embedded info about the .run file and exit.
--check
Check integrity of the archive and exit.
--extract-only
Extract the contents of ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run,
but do not run 'nvidia-installer'.
--help
Print usage information for the common commandline options
and exit.
--advanced-options
Print usage information for the common commandline options as
well as the advanced options, and then exit.
Installation will also install the utility `nvidia-installer`, which may
be later used to uninstall drivers, auto-download updated drivers, etc.
FEATURES OF NVIDIA-INSTALLER
o Uninstall: Driver installation will backup any conflicting files
and record what new files are installed on the system. You may run:
nvidia-installer --uninstall
to uninstall the current driver; this will remove any files that
were installed on the system, and restore any backed up files.
Installing new drivers implicitly uninstalls any previous drivers.
o Auto-Updating: If you run:
nvidia-installer --latest
the utility will connect to NVIDIA's FTP site, and report the latest
driver version and the url to the latest driver file.
If you run:
nvidia-installer --update
If you already have an XF86Config file working with a different driver
(such as the 'nv' or 'vesa' driver), then all you need to do is find
the relevant Device section and replace the line:
Driver "nv"
(or Driver "vesa")
with
Driver "nvidia"
In the Module section, make sure you have:
Load "glx"
You should also remove the following lines:
Load "dri"
Load "GLcore"
if they exist. There are also numerous options that can be added to
the XF86Config file to fine-tune the NVIDIA XFree86 driver. Please see
Appendix D for a complete list of these options.
Once you have configured your XF86Config file, you are ready to restart
X and begin using the accelerated OpenGL libraries. After you restart X,
you should be able to run any OpenGL application and it will automatically
use the new NVIDIA libraries. If you encounter any problems, please
