权限不够是什么意思？

我在文字模式下执行adsl-setup，电脑要我以root身份进入，我输入密码后显示权限不够，不知是什么意思。请指教！

u had better logout and use root to log in. sometime su is not enough.

在Linux下存在3种用户组：root组、用户所在的组（如workgroup组）、其他用户

所在的组同一个文件对不同Group的用户而言有不同的权限，有的是只读，有的可以

写，还有的是可以执行的；系统中的各种命令其实也是通过shell映射到一些程序文

件上，所以用一般用户登录有时候就会遇到没有执行权限这样的情况，而root则是

具有最高权限，它可以在系统中完成所有的动作，但是也可能会对系统造成破坏，

所以在对系统不是很熟悉的时候，最好还是另外用一个帐户登录

$ ls -l | more    可以查看用户对文件的权限

i think u are wrong. i guess u mean the three rwxrwxrwx meaning? for example, for
-rwxr-xr--    1 foo    users          22 Mar 28 14:52 load
they are 'the file mode, the number of links to the file, the owner name, the group name, the size of the file (in bytes), the timestamp, and the filename.'
for the file mode, the first rwx means the owner right, the second r-x means the group user right, the third r-- means the other user right.

since u can change the file owner and group independently, it is complex.
for example, u can have a file that its owner is foo, but its group does not contain foo. then the second part of u statement is wrong.

u can do experiments on u linux box to understand this. in fact, unix file mode is so flexible and can lead to security hole without carefullly assignment.
