gcc configure file question

搞不明白，gcc3.0目录下的configure脚本代码感觉很奇怪，首部注释如下：

问题一：这两个有什么区别和关系？

gcc4.0的configure脚本代码变动特别大，从运行时屏幕回显信息来看，gcc3.0目录下的脚本似乎是调用了子目录gcc下的脚本。
