dalin, help me! soundcard!

my soundcard is VT8233 AC97 audio. which is integrated in the mianbord.
The linux can detect the device. but there is no sound when playing mp3, etc.
I follow the instructions at

There is a accident when it come to the step 4.
I don't know how to edit the /etc/modules.conf .so i use the second method.
but the "alsaconf" command can not work ,i don't know why.
ti displays as follow
[root@Nickole alsaconf-0.4.3a]# alsaconf
bash: alsaconf: command not found

is there some errors?
i am deeply bottered by it ! please help me!!!
