安装2.4.31内核的问题

原来是rh9的2.4.20...在kernel.org下载了2.4.31..按照网上的步骤,没有出错..
为什么启动时提示这样的错误?
VFS:Cannot open root device "LABEL=/" or 00:00
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic :VFS:Unable to mount root fs on 00:00
我的grub如下:

splashimage=(hd0,5)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz

出错了吧？
我改成根目录所在的分区，还是出现以上错误，大虾们救命啊！

"kernel /boot/vmlinuz",,检查boot目录下是不是这个号，我怀疑是vmlinuz-2.4.31
