共享在2.6.10内核上装ATI显卡驱动的经验。。。

我用的系统是CENTOS 4 BETA。。。。是由FC3的源代码编译过来的,装好以后发现内核怎么配置我的机器都不能够POWEROFF。。。刚好2.6.10内核也出来了,于是就当了新内核源码,把2.69的。CONFIG文件往新内核源代码目录一拷,稍微改了一下就顺利编译通过并OK了,我的电源管理也没有问题了。
    今天在网上无聊把TUX RACER这个游戏当下来,发现居然在我的M10显卡上运行龟速,于是手动modprobe上radeon模块,还是没有用!怒!!!闪电去ATI网站上当下了驱动,由于我的X服务器不是XFREE86而是XORG6.8,所以又去GOOGLE搜了几篇文档,原来不影响安装。开始!!!
步骤如下

1.下载最新的驱动包(xfree 4.3 那个)

2.安装驱动包

3.按文档写的进入到/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod 然后sh make.sh,发现一个警告,我没有理它,继续按文档上写的到/lib/modules/fglrx//lib/modules/fglrx/目录下面sh makeinstall.sh,报错,DMESG了一下发现是pci_find_class这个函数未定义,我晕~~~又上GOOGLE搜了一下,原来是由于新内核把pci_find_class这个函数更名成了pci_get_class,呵呵,这下好办了,反正有源代码,我改!!!!!grep了一下源代码,发现是agpgart_be.c作怪,就把里面用到pci_find_class全部替换成
pci_get_class.这回编译和安装都OK了~~~~

4.fglrxconfig
     那些选项不是很难,按自己的硬件一步步选下去就OK了!

5.完成上一步以后会生成/etc/X11/XF86Config-4这么一个文件,把XORG.COnf备份,在这里凭我的经验最好是参照XORG。conf修改一下XF86Config-4里面的一些配置以避免可能产生的硬件不能驱动的问题,然后再把XF86Config-4覆盖掉XORG。CONF。(附上我的修改后可正常启动XF86Config-4,大家参考一下)

6重启X或者系统

如果X启动不了了,一定要仔细看日志XORG初始化的哪步出问题了~~~然后就是凭你的耐心了,一步一步慢慢修改,参照一下原来XORG。CONF的配置。修改完以后,进X体验一下3D的快感吧!!!

PS:我的ATI显卡驱动没有安装成功,运行3D游戏X就自动退出~原因不明(可能和AGP有关,因为我在WINDOWS里面也无法打开AGP加速,但是不影响玩游戏,3DMARK2001SE 9000分左右)~~~~我哭!!!哪位高人有解决了这样的问题的还请多多指教~~~~~~~~

多问一句楼主,有windows下那样的ATI控制面板吗?我想TV输出到电视上,又怕linux下没有那样的设置.

好象在/USR/SRC下面有控制面板的源代码编译目录,我没有办法测试这个。呵呵

你自己试试吧

不过记得一定选中要双头输出(上面的步骤4里面选中)~~~

纠正一下~~~~

不好意思,我装上驱动了,驱动是支持的我本本显卡芯片的

但是无法驱动我的3D。。

AGPGART这个模块挂不上。我一进3D游戏或者运行测试Xorg就自动注销。。

可能是因为我显卡是PCI接口的原因(WINDOWS中也无法打开AGP支持)
